Well I received a real shock last week when the snow fell and cancelled my golf games! I wasn’t prepared and I thought how will I stay busy if I can’t golf. I love to walk so I phoned a friend and we went down to Terwillegar and walked from Terwillegar bridge to Fort Edmonton …
Sisters!
I have spent time with my sisters in the last month at a couple of different locations. I am the oldest and I felt I had to be the leader and show guidance for my younger sisters. I am not sure that happened. They are all very individuals in many ways but I see similarities …
Surviving Retirement!
I am closing in on my third month of retirement. Biggest challenge is living on one paycheque a month and trying to balance my life. You work at a job where you felt like you contributed your energy and brain power to an organization and then fall off the wagon when you leave. Retirement isn’t …
Smoky day in Edmonton!
I don’t think I have ever seen smoke this heavy. It was a 10 this am in Edmonton. How do you deal with smoke? I found my allergies were acting up and everything you touch smells like smoke. If you have health issues staying inside is the best idea. You can also consider purchasing an …
Handling Grief!
How do we handle grief after someone has passed? My husband has been gone for 2 years and I don’t know what’s appropriate after two years and especially how to acknowledge his birthday today. Pickle Season!
It’s that time of year again,Pickle Season. There is controversy over using garlic from China versus homegrown garlic in the pickle recipe. I will make a batch of pickles with garlic from Edmonton and will do a blind taste test to see if anyone tastes a difference.

I am focusing on being a better person and viewing life from a different perspective. I …

First week of Retirement!
I can honestly say I don’t feel retired yet. I am trying to catch up on lots of jobs that have been pushed to the side for many years. My advice is take a couple of weeks of and do what you want to do. I have taken advantage of the great weather by biking and golfing. I have set aside time to enjoy my sons and their better half’s by cooking some new recipes. I chose a rib roast from Costco and found this great recipe from Pinterest.
