What a shock to my system after spending the whole month of February in minus 20 weather. I had a great 2 weeks in Costa Rica and came back refreshed and positive to approach the cold weather. I was expecting to work some shifts at the hospital and lo and behold they didn’t call me.
It was a surprise and a blow to my ego. My self esteem went down and I thought how will I occupy my time, the days can be very long.
Here are some suggestions!
- Take a course through the Edmonton Public Library. I just finished a Microsoft Excel course and I learned some new applications.
- Volunteer. I was given good advice and told to wait a few months after retirement to start volunteering. I am helping with the Running Room games and really enjoy it.
- Start a business. I am still researching some possibilities and will take a class through the library as well.
- Get to the gym. Working out has been a positive step
- Walk the malls. If it is really cold drive to the mall but leave your money at home. I have become an excellent window shopper.
- Everyday get dressed, put your makeup on even if you don’t go out. You will feel much better.
- Organize your closets, drawers and paperwork, it’s not my favourite but you do feel accomplished!
- If you are feeling down call a friend,
