Retirement in February !

What a shock to my system after spending the whole month of February in minus 20 weather. I had a great 2 weeks in Costa Rica and came back refreshed and positive to approach the cold weather. I was expecting to work some shifts at the hospital and lo and behold they didn’t call me.

It was a surprise and a blow to my ego. My self esteem went down and I thought how will I occupy my time, the days can be very long.

Here are some suggestions!

  1. Take a course through the Edmonton Public Library. I just finished a Microsoft Excel course and I learned some new applications.
  2. Volunteer. I was given good advice and told to wait a few months after retirement to start volunteering. I am helping with the Running Room games and really enjoy it.
  3. Start a business. I am still researching some possibilities and will take a class through the library as well.
  4. Get to the gym. Working out has been a positive step
  5. Walk the malls. If it is really cold drive to the mall but leave your money at home. I have become an excellent window shopper.
  6. Everyday get dressed, put your makeup on even if you don’t go out. You will feel much better.
  7. Organize your closets, drawers and paperwork, it’s not my favourite but you do feel accomplished!
